Senior Interior Design Manager

Overview

Our client is seeking a highly creative, technically proficient, and detail-oriented Senior Interior Design Manager to join its Design team in Miami, Florida. This position will play an integral role in the planning, design, and execution of luxury residential high-rise condominiums and multifamily rental projects. The Senior Interior Design Manager will work alongside leading architects, interior designers, consultants, artists, and manufacturers to deliver sophisticated, highly considered residential environments from initial concept through construction completion.

Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President of Marketing, Sales, this individual will help establish and maintain the interior design vision for multiple complex projects while ensuring that the final product aligns with the project's market positioning, architectural context, budget, schedule, and overall development strategy.

The position combines creative design leadership, hands-on design development, consultant management, technical review, sourcing, and construction coordination. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable developing and communicating design concepts, critically reviewing technical documentation, and resolving detailed design and construction issues in the field.

Responsibilities

Design Vision and Direction

• Collaborate with executive leadership to establish the overall interior design vision and aesthetic direction for luxury residential developments.
• Direct and review space plans, furniture layouts, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, finish concepts, lighting concepts, millwork, kitchens, bathrooms, and custom architectural details.
• Oversee design presentations, mood boards, material palettes, sample boards, finish binders, sketches, renderings, and other materials used to communicate the intended design.
• Ensure that each interior environment is visually distinctive, highly functional, appropriate for the target market, and consistent with the broader project strategy.

Design Management and Consultant Coordination

• Manage the interior design process across multiple projects from pre-development and concept design through schematic design, design development, construction documentation, procurement, installation, and closeout.
• Serve as the primary point of coordination among external interior designers, architects, Development and Construction teams, and specialty consultants.
• Coordinate with lighting designers, kitchen consultants, millworkers, audiovisual and technology consultants, acoustical consultants, signage designers, art consultants, landscape architects, and other project specialists.
• Review consultant submissions for completeness, coordination, quality, constructability, functionality, and consistency with the approved design intent.
• Ensure alignment across architectural plans, interior elevations, reflected ceiling plans, millwork drawings, lighting layouts, electrical plans, plumbing locations, audiovisual systems, security systems, and technology integration.
• Maintain clear design schedules, decision logs, deliverable trackers, sample logs, and project documentation.

Technical Review and Design Integrity

• Review and coordinate floor plans, finish plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, sections, details, millwork drawings, door and hardware schedules, finish schedules, and FF&E documentation.
• Identify design conflicts, documentation gaps, and constructability concerns before they affect the project schedule, budget, or field execution.
• Review design-related RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, control samples, finish samples, mockups, prototypes, and first installations.
• Work closely with the Development and Construction teams to resolve technical and field conditions while preserving the approved design intent.

Materials, FF&E, and Procurement

• Lead or support the review and selection of interior materials, finishes, fixtures, decorative lighting, plumbing fixtures, hardware, millwork, furniture, artwork, accessories, and equipment.
• Manage the development of FF&E and OS&E packages, including sourcing, specifications, pricing, approvals, procurement coordination, and installation.
• Coordinate with procurement teams, vendors, and contractors regarding pricing, production schedules, lead times, deliveries, installation, and closeout.
• Maintain organized physical and digital material libraries, sample collections, finish binders, and product documentation.
• Participate in value-engineering exercises and recommend thoughtful alternatives that meet financial and scheduling objectives without compromising the quality or integrity of the finished product.

Construction Administration and Quality Control

• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, review workmanship, and confirm compliance with approved design documents and samples.
• Participate in mockup reviews, first-installation reviews, factory visits, material inspections, and quality-control assessments.
• Support the coordination and installation of model residences, sales galleries, amenity spaces, and FF&E packages.
• Track and resolve design-related punch-list items.
• Protect and preserve the design integrity of each project from initial concept through final delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a closely related field is required.
• A minimum of five years of professional experience in interior design, architecture, or design management, preferably within a high-end interior design, architecture, hospitality, or real estate development environment.
• Demonstrated experience working on luxury residential, high-rise condominium, multifamily, hotel, resort, restaurant, or other high-end hospitality projects.
• Proven experience managing projects through all phases, from concept design and schematic design through construction documentation, construction administration, installation, and completion.
• A portfolio demonstrating strong design judgment, sophisticated materiality, technical proficiency, and completed built work is required.
• Exceptional design sensibility with the ability to conceptualize, develop, evaluate, and communicate elevated interior environments.
• Advanced knowledge of materials, finishes, custom millwork, kitchens, bathrooms, lighting, plumbing fixtures, hardware, FF&E, and OS&E.
• Strong understanding of construction documents, detailing, specifications, consultant coordination, procurement, and field execution.
• Demonstrated ability to critically assess architectural floor plans, interior layouts, furniture plans, elevations, and reflected ceiling plans.
• Experience with Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, Enscape, V-Ray, Bluebeam, or comparable visualization and documentation platforms is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Excellent verbal, written, editorial, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Ability to communicate detailed design and technical information clearly to both creative and construction-oriented audiences.
• Highly organized and capable of maintaining accuracy while managing multiple projects and changing deadlines.
• Resourceful, proactive, and solutions-oriented, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Strong leadership skills with the confidence to provide clear direction, defend design intent, and constructively challenge consultants when appropriate.
• Willingness to travel to project sites, consultant offices, showrooms, factories, and vendor facilities as required.
