Family Office Accountant

A New York, NY-based Family Office is seeking a highly intelligent, motivated, and detail-oriented Family Office Accountant to oversee the day-to-day financial administration and accounting activities for a high-net-worth family and its affiliated entities. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment managing a diverse portfolio of personal, investment, real estate, and lifestyle-related financial matters.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within a family office, private office, wealth management firm, public accounting firm, or high-net-worth environment.
  • Experience with single-family office accounting, multi-entity accounting, and consolidated financial reporting preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, bookkeeping, tax planning, and cash management.
  • Experience working with trusts, estates, investment portfolios, private equity holdings, and real estate assets is highly desirable.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all accounting and bookkeeping functions for the family office and related entities.
  • Process accounts payable, bill payments, wire transfers, and cash management activities.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and consolidated reports.
  • Reconcile bank, brokerage, credit card, and investment accounts.
  • Assist with tax planning, tax preparation, and coordination with external CPAs and advisors.
  • Track and report on investment portfolios, private equity holdings, and real estate assets.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with estate planning, trust accounting, and wealth transfer activities.
  • Coordinate financial matters related to household operations, travel, aviation, yacht, and lifestyle expenditures.
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and cash flow analyses.
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with financial and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain the highest level of discretion and confidentiality regarding family affairs and financial information.
