Our client, a cutting-edge property management firm in New York, is searching for a focused Real Estate Property Controller who is tech and efficiently savvy. They are in a growth trajectory and have an amazing team. We are seeking those eager to make their mark and mold initiatives within the organization to help streamline the department.
The Controller will oversee the financial operations of the organization and be responsible for managing accounting functions, also putting systems in place while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and providing strategic financial insights. This role requires a strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS, and various accounting software platforms, The Controller will lead financial reporting, manage cash flow, and support budgeting processes to facilitate informed decision-making across the organization.
Proficiency working with Yardi software is required.
The Senior Residential / Commercial Property Controller must have the following qualifications and experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance
• 8-10 years of experience in accounting with a Property Management background
(at least 3 years’ experience as a Property Controller)
• Proficiency working with Yardi Voyager, Microsoft Office and Excel software required.
• Experience with tax credit residential properties is a plus
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Strong understanding of the banking process
The Senior Residential / Commercial Property Controller will have the following roles and responsibilities to:
• Perform monthly close of books and records and prepare internal and external financial statements for distribution
• Assessing accounting and internal control systems. Implementing appropriate Standard Operating Procedures.
• Working with software to set up new properties
• Ensure payments to vendors are made timely
• Produce & Review monthly, quarterly, and annual budget reports
• Coordinate year-end process with outside auditors
• Ensure that accounting and tax laws are adhered to
• Ability to prepare detailed financial report writing and perform account reconciliation effectively
• Work closely with the President on implementing the company’s strategic plans
